Can my vendor be exempted from Business License?

As part of our compliance with SDP, Medi-Cal, and HCBS requirements, vendors are required to submit a valid business license during onboarding.

We understand that in limited cases, a vendor may face legitimate barriers to obtaining a business license (e.g., local city or county restrictions). In such situations, exemptions may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis with proper justification and acceptable alternative documentation.


Acceptable alternatives may include:

  • A valid professional license or certification
  • Business tax registration
  • 501(c)(3) non-profit certification
  • Official documentation from a local .gov website confirming that a business license is not required


Please have your vendor submit one of the above documents along with an explanation so we can review and proceed accordingly.
